'Much is expected from those who have been given much'

My name is Susan Moore Lawrence and I have an insatiable love for Arabian horses. I believe they're perceived differently than other breeds more popular here in Colorado, namely the Quarter Horse, the Paint Horse, and warm bloods.

I think Arabs are often misunderstood because they're so keen and responsive. It takes certain human qualities to communicate well with them: Kindness, patience, inner peace, leadership, and money for a good trainer. The trainer is for the humans as the horses already know so much.

While I don't bring home all the Arabs I'd like, I do place one to two carefully chosen horses each year. They do require a healthy income from their new humans, and that plays into their placement. An arena and round pen are available here to get to know the horse, as well as help for selection of tack - at of course, no charge.

I initially offer a 6 week 'care-lease'. That means the new family takes the horse at no charge and is responsible for care, feed, vet, etc. This gives everyone a chance to make sure this is the right fit. When all goes well, we do the brand inspection and transfer ownership. I like to deliver the horse to it's new home so I know where it's going.

The selling price is what I have into the horse...including purchase price, vet charges, Farrier services, etc, and have never 'sold' a horse for more than $1800.00. She was an exceptionally well trained and Breeders Sweepstakes mare. I really didn't want to part with her...but can't keep them all.

My goal is to place horses with families. I have never gotten one back, though that certainly IS an option if the family can no longer keep the horse.
